Putin Declares Test of Nuclear-Powered Poseidon Drone
(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed on Wednesday that the nuclear-powered Poseidon drones had undergone successful testing earlier this week.
During a discussion with injured servicemen at Moscow’s Mandryka Hospital, Putin stated that "for the first time, it was possible to launch a nuclear power engine" for the underwater torpedo drone system. He hailed the achievement, calling it "a huge success."
The Russian leader emphasized that the new device cannot be intercepted, noting that "in terms of speed and depth, it has no analogues in the world."
He continued by saying, "There is nothing like this in terms of speed and depth of movement of this unmanned vehicle in the world, and there are unlikely to be any interception methods in the near future."
Putin also claimed that the Poseidon drone’s energy capacity far surpasses that of the Russian Sarmat missile, regarded as the most formidable nuclear missile globally.
"Poseidon's power significantly exceeds the power of even our most promising Sarmat intercontinental range missile. There is no such thing in the world as the Sarmat, and it is not on duty here yet—it will be on duty soon," he remarked.
Describing the drone’s compact structure, Putin said it features "minimal sizes," explaining that it is "a hundred times smaller than a nuclear reactor on a submarine."
