Istanbul Forest Innovation Week Kicks Off
(MENAFN) Istanbul Forest Innovation Week (IFIW), a key event that gathers scientists, experts, and industry representatives from across the globe, commenced on Monday under the theme "From Green Homeland to World Forestry."
The event is organized by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Forestry, in collaboration with the UN Forest Forum (UNFF) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
It is expected to serve as a crucial platform for shaping the future of global forestry policies. Anadolu is the global communication partner for the Istanbul Forest Innovation Week 2025.
The event started with opening speeches by Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli; Bekir Karacabey, General Director of Forestry; Juliette Biao, Director of the UNFF Secretariat; and Nabil Gangi, FAO's Central Asia Subregional Coordinator and FAO Türkiye Representative.
Over the next five days, the event will feature participation from representatives of 75 countries, 30 international organizations, and more than 400 experts.
A significant highlight of the event will be the exhibition of cutting-edge machinery, equipment, and technologies used in forest firefighting, including the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle and firefighting helicopters.
This showcase aims to highlight Turkey's capabilities in forest firefighting.
Throughout the week, various panels, workshops, field trips, and bilateral meetings will focus on diverse topics, ranging from climate change and digital forestry to forest firefighting and technological advancements.
The event will also spotlight Turkey's expertise in forest firefighting and sustainable forestry practices, its vision for digitalization, and its innovative approaches to forestry management.
