Hamas Refutes US Claims Of Imminent Gaza Ceasefire Violation
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
RAMALLAH, Oct 19 (KUNA) -- Hamas refuted on Sunday claims by the US State Department accusing the group of planning an "imminent" violation to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Hamas described these allegations as "baseless" and repeated Israeli occupation propaganda.
Hamas accused the Israeli occupation of backing armed and criminal groups that attacked humanitarian aid convoys and looted Palestinian civilians.
The police force in the Gaza Strip, supported by residents, had been pursuing offenders and enforcing the law to protect citizens and public property, added the statement.
It called on the US administration to refrain from repeating Israeli occupation narratives and to hold it accountable for supporting criminal elements aiming to destabilize Gaza and breach the ceasefire.
Earlier, the United States has informed the guarantor nations of the Gaza peace agreement of credible reports indicating an "imminent" ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza.
"This planned attack against Palestinian civilians would constitute a direct and grave violation of the ceasefire agreement and undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts. The guarantors demand Hamas uphold its obligations under the ceasefire terms," said the US State Department. (end)
