(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the Finnish Ministry of Defence stated this in a press release

As noted, the President of Finland approved the decision today based on a proposal from the government.

Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen stated:“The capabilities delivered in this package will cost Finland an estimated EUR 52 million.”

According to him, the package consists mainly of new procurements from Finnish companies.

“Finland has now delivered defence materiel to Ukraine to a total value of EUR 2.9 billion. Relative to the size of its economy, Finland is one of the countries that has supported Ukraine the most. This week, we have also announced participation in NATO's PURL initiative, which procures weapons systems critical to Ukraine from the United States. The future of a free and safe Europe will be decided in Ukraine – it requires persistence and backbone from all the allies,” the Defense Minister emphasized.

In spring 2025, the Finnish Ministry of Defence launched a support programme for Ukraine by procuring products intended for Ukraine from Finland's defence industry. The programme aims to meet Ukraine's critical needs, ensure the suitability of the procured products, and safeguard the manufacturing and supply capacities of the companies involved.

For operational reasons, no further details regarding the content, delivery method, or schedule of the assistance will be disclosed.

The Ministry of Defence of Finland noted that in deciding on assistance, both Ukraine's needs and the resources of the Finnish Defence Forces were taken into account.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on 15 October, Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen said that Finland would provide a new assistance package to Ukraine this week and join the PURL initiative to procure U.S. weaponry for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
