Sustainability Leaders Converge In Dubai For Plastics Recycling Show ME&A 2025

17th October 2025: The outstanding success of the third edition of the Plastics Recycling Show Middle East & Africa in Dubai has firmly established it as the region's premier event for all those engaged in the circular and sustainable use of plastics. The recent three-day exhibition and conference attracted over 100 exhibitors, over 50 speakers, and more than 3,000 attendees representing every part of the region's circular plastics supply chain. The winners of the inaugural Plastics Recycling Awards Middle East & Africa were also announced during the event. “The remarkable success of the recent Plastics Recycling Show Middle East & Africa at the DWTC in Dubai reflects the region's growing commitment to sustainable innovation and circular economy solutions. The enthusiastic participation from industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators underscores the UAE's pivotal role as a global hub for driving meaningful change in plastics recycling and environmental responsibility,” said Taher Patrawala, Managing Director, Media Fusion. “Building on this momentum, we are excited to look ahead to the upcoming Plastics Recycling Show India in Mumbai from 13–15 November, which promises to further expand the dialogue on recycling technologies and sustainable practices across the region and globally.” “PRS ME&A has firmly established itself as a key pillar in the global series of Plastics Recycling Show events,” added Matt Barber, Director of Global Trade Shows at Crain Communications.“Each year, its influence continues to grow-bringing together international expertise, regional leadership, and cutting-edge technology. It's inspiring to see PRS ME&A strengthen the global dialogue on advancing plastics recycling and sustainable industry practices.” The first two Plastics Recycling Awards Middle East & Africa were presented at the show: Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year – Entrepreneur and circular economy expert at Rebound, Maryam Al Mansoori, was honoured for advancing plastics recycling. She developed a trusted trading system for recycled materials, boosting efficiency, economic opportunities, and environmental impact. Yassamin Homayouni accepted the award on her behalf. Sustainable Plastic Packaging Company of the Year – ALPLA was recognised for leadership in sustainable packaging. Investing €50 million annually in recycling, it produced over 350,000 tonnes of rPET and rHDPE in 2023–24, with plans to double capacity by 2030. Its packaging is fully recyclable and will contain at least 25% post-consumer recycled content by 2025. The PRS ME&A exhibition showcased the latest innovations in machinery, sorting and washing systems, raw materials, additives, and a wide range of services from across the plastics recycling value chain. The new Circular Plastics Hub highlighted the latest products manufactured with recycled plastics, detailing recycled content and applications. The three-day conference focused on the latest market trends, regulatory developments, and technological innovations shaping the recycling and packaging sector. Policymakers, recyclers, brand owners, and technology providers contributed to discussions on creating sustainable change. Sessions covered key topics such as regulatory frameworks and policy collaboration, efficient collection and sorting systems, investment opportunities in mechanical and chemical recycling, and advancements in sustainable packaging. “PRS is a very good space for exhibiting your products made from recycling. A lot of like-minded people come here, connect and share opportunities and ideas,' said Yash Sharma, Director of Ganesha Ecosphere.“You meet the right people and the right companies that are interested in recycling.” Punit Gopalka, CEO of Packem Umasree Ltd, said:“This is the perfect location for exhibiting our product in this region”. “I came in to look at some AI solutions, and I have got two or three that I can look at,” said Prof. Dr. Sivapalan Kathiravale, Research & Development Head at Tadweer Group. “This is the second year I have taken part in PRS. I think it's a great platform for the private sector to get to know each other, to get to know more recycling suppliers,” said Valentina Reverón, Head of Packaging R&D MEA at Henkel Consumer Brands.“Year on year, we see the evolution where the market is going on recycled materials.
