U.S. Senate Ready To Move On Russia Sanctions Bill, Republican Majority Leader Says

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) As Ukrinform reports with reference to Politico, in a comment to journalists, Thune noted that senators are“talking about a time and date” taking up the legislation that would impose tariffs on countries that import Russian energy and implement secondary sanctions on foreign firms that support Russian energy production.

“It's ready.... I think it's time to move,” Thune emphasized.

The politician noted that he expected the bill, developed by Republican Lindsey Graham together with Democrat Richard Blumenthal, would be brought up in“roughly the next 30 days”.

Republicans are awaiting the official approval of the document by President Donald Trump.

It is noted that the intensification of work on the bill is taking place on the eve of President Trump's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is scheduled to take place on Friday.
