Amman, Oct. 14 (Petra) – The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO), has launched a series of awareness sessions on labor rights, targeting workers across various sectors and economic activities.
According to a statement released Tuesday, these sessions are part of the project "Union Power for a More Inclusive and Gender-Equal World of Work", implemented by the federation in partnership with the ILO's Decent Work for Women program.
The first session concluded Tuesday, attended by a number of workers from unions under the federation's umbrella. A total of 12 legal awareness sessions will be conducted, delivered by lawyer Asma Ameera, according to the project's schedule.
The sessions focus on women's labor rights under labor and social security laws, as well as issues of protection from workplace violence and harassment. They aim to raise legal awareness on fundamental labor concepts, clarify workers' rights and obligations, explain minimum wage standards, different types of employment contracts, and legal implications at the end of a contract.
This cooperation between the federation and the ILO is part of the "Equality at Work" project, funded by the Government of Norway.
