Fatma Özdoğan is an accomplished architect and researcher with a diverse portfolio of projects in Qatar, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, along with research experience in Türkiye, Canada, Colombia, and Lebanon. She holds a master's degree from Yıldız Technical University in Türkiye, where her research focused on integrating disaster risk reduction into architecture education. Later, she was awarded the Martin Wilkinson Scholarship at Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom, where she investigated the effects of conflict-induced migration on urbanization in Türkiye.
Currently, she is pursuing a PhD at School of Architecture in Université de Montréal in Canada. Her research explores the relationship between disaster narratives, risk management, and reconstruction strategies in Türkiye. She is also conducting research on post-flooding governance in Canada. Her research interests are sustainable reconstruction, urban resilience, and risk-based urban development. Through her interdisciplinary approach, she aims to bridge the gap between policy and practice, contributing innovative solutions for resilient urban development and sustainable reconstruction in disaster-prone regions.
In addition to her research, she teaches courses on disaster memory, sustainable urban development, and disaster studies at Bahçeşehir University in Türkiye.
