Royal Air Maroc Nears Rio Route Launch

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Royal Air Maroc, the Moroccan airline that operates direct flights between São Paulo and Casablanca, is in the final stages of adding Rio de Janeiro to its routes. The company's press office shared the information ahead of Royal Air Maroc's participation in ABAV Expo, a tourism fair that began Wednesday (8) and runs through Friday (10) in Rio de Janeiro.

“Rio de Janeiro is one of Brazil's most coveted landmarks, one of the cities most admired by our passengers, both in Morocco and in Europe. There's a growing demand for flights to the Marvelous City, and we want to meet this interest as soon as possible,” said Othman Baba, Royal Air Maroc's regional director for South America, in a statement released by the airline.

According to the company, the strong performance of the São Paulo route, which records high occupancy rates, has been accelerating the launch of flights to Rio. The Moroccan airline resumed its São Paulo–Casablanca service about ten months ago, following a suspension during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Royal Air Maroc flies to São Paulo three times a week but announced that starting in December the route will operate four times weekly, departing Brazil on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

According to the company, alongside ABAV Expo, Royal Air Maroc is conducting strategic visits in Rio to tour operators, consolidators, and travel agencies, strengthening its commercial relationships and laying the groundwork for the new route. The schedule includes meetings with the main players in the Rio market, focusing on partnerships, training, and generating new business opportunities.

“Rio is a market with great outbound potential and highly qualified stakeholders. Our work is to strengthen ties, listen to the trade, and build, from now on, a solid relationship base for the company's next phase in the country,” said Royal Air Maroc's sales executive in Brazil, Marcos Belucci.

At ABAV Expo, Royal Air Maroc is participating alongside the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). The airline presented new fares at the fair, showcased its growth plans, and promoted Morocco as a tourist destination. In addition to carrying travelers from Brazil to Morocco, the São Paulo–Casablanca flight is also in demand as a connection to Europe and other African countries. The company states that it is about to incorporate a new Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner into its operations.
