Russia Says It Shot Down Over 350 Ukrainian Drones
(MENAFN) Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Monday that its forces intercepted and destroyed more than 350 Ukrainian aerial threats in the past 24 hours, marking one of the most intense days of drone and missile attacks in recent months.
According to a ministry statement, Russian air defense systems neutralized 356 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles, alongside six U.S.-made HIMARS rockets and one Neptune long-range cruise missile.
The western Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, faced a significant surge in drone activity, said Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. Ukrainian forces reportedly targeted 14 municipal districts in the area.
“In total, 197 drones were launched, of which 137 were shot down or neutralized,” Gladkov stated. “Six people sought medical assistance.”
In a separate incident in southern Russia, a Ukrainian drone strike caused a fire at an oil refinery in the Krasnodar region. The regional crisis response center confirmed that debris from the drone ignited a blaze in a security room, leaving two people injured.
