Jordan lauds Hamas ‘positive’ answer to Trump’s peace plan

(MENAFN) On Saturday, Jordan's Foreign Ministry praised Hamas's acceptance of the ceasefire plan proposed by President Trump. The Ministry views this "positive response" as a “significant step” toward bringing an end to the conflict in Gaza and its terrible repercussions.

The ministry’s announcement also welcomed President Trump’s urge for an immediate truce to facilitate the prisoner exchange deal detailed in his proposal, a plan that Hamas has accepted.

Fuad Majali, the Foreign Ministry representative, lauded the mediation efforts of Egypt and Qatar for a permanent truce. He reiterated Jordan's support for the US plan, which the initiative outlines a plan to end the war, facilitate the reconstruction of Gaza, prevent Palestinians from being displaced, and restart the peace process.

Majali stated that “Jordan values its partnership with the United States as a cornerstone of efforts to resolve the conflict and achieve a just peace.”

He emphasized Jordan’s refusal of any West Bank occupation attempts and urged the international community to revive efforts for a two-state resolution in line with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.
