(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) LONDON, Oct 4 (KUNA) -- British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday described Hamas' acceptance of the US peace plan as a significant step toward ending the conflict in Gaza.
In a press statement, Starmer said there is now an opportunity to end the fighting, secure the release of hostages, and allow humanitarian aid to reach those most in need in the Gaza Strip.
He affirmed his government's strong support for US President Donald Trump's efforts, which he said have brought peace closer than ever, and called on all parties to implement the agreement without delay.
Starmer reiterated the UK's support for its partners and expressed readiness to assist in further negotiations and efforts achieving sustainable peace in the region.
Hamas announced on Friday its acceptance of the Trump plan, which aims to end the nearly two-year-long war in the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 66,000 Palestinians and injured nearly 170,000 others. (end)
