Secretary Rubio's Call With French Foreign Minister Barrot

Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke today with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. The Secretary conveyed the United States’ steadfast support for bringing the hostages held by Hamas home and ending the war in Gaza, and he welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s comments in support of President Trump’s peace plan announced on September 29. The Secretary and Foreign Minister agreed to continue cooperation in diplomatic efforts to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to an end through a negotiated settlement and durable peace. Secretary Rubio and Foreign Minister Barrot also discussed the recent re-imposition of UN sanctions and restrictions on Iran and agreed that Iran must never develop or have a nuclear weapon.
