Qatar Welcomes US Peace Plan, Reaffirms Commitment To Stability In Gaza
Qatar and Egypt have jointly delivered the plan to Hamas' negotiation team, with preparations underway for further discussions involving Turkey. The plan was handed over late last night, and Hamas has pledged to study it seriously. The MOFA spokesperson emphasized that the proposal is vital for achieving peace and stability in the region and expressed hope for its success.
He further welcomed Washington's efforts to advance the initiative, including moves to form a World Peace Committee, underlining that Qatar will spare no effort in working to end the war and safeguard peace for the Palestinian people. Intensive consultations are currently being held in Doha with active participation from Egypt, Turkey, and other stakeholders.
The MOFA spokesperson reiterated that the government's foremost priority is to safeguard the peace, security, and sovereignty of Qatar and protect all who live within it. He underlined that Israel's apology for its recent attack on Doha was an important step to guarantee that such incidents will not be repeated, reinforced by pledges from the United States. At the same time, he confirmed that legal proceedings are ongoing to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
Highlighting the wider context, the MOFA spokesperson said that the recognition of a Palestinian State is a significant development, as many countries have already extended their support. He stressed that the immediate priority is for all parties, including Hamas, to approve the U.S. peace plan, after which other issues can be addressed in practical stages.
He added that once the plan is endorsed, Qatar will continue to provide all necessary support to establish peace, stability, and security for the brotherly Palestinian people. Commenting on Israel's apology, the MOFA spokesperson noted that while it is the least that could be done in response to a flagrant attack, the real importance lies in the guarantees provided to ensure such aggression will never be repeated.
Concluding, the MOFA spokesperson described President Trump's plan as comprehensive and expressed optimism about its prospects. He affirmed that Israel's commitment not to attack Qatar again, together with additional assurances from Washington, will allow the people of Qatar to continue living in peace, stability, and normalcy.
