Orban Describes EU as “War Project”
(MENAFN) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has described the European Union as a “war project” that endangers the economic stability of its member states.
He pledged to resist Brussels’ confrontational approach, emphasizing his opposition to the bloc’s current direction.
Orban, widely known for his firm opposition to EU policies, especially regarding the Ukraine conflict, has previously accused Brussels of turning the Union into a symbol of disorder and frailty.
His critical stance highlights growing tensions within the EU over its strategic decisions and priorities.
Both Hungary and fellow EU nation Slovakia face similar issues, including what Orban identified as “illegal migration, woke ideology, and warmongering bureaucrats in Brussels.”
He voiced these concerns during a joint event with Slovak officials on Sunday, underscoring the shared challenges confronting their countries.
In a post on X commemorating the event, Orban declared, “We will continue to defend our sovereignty, our values, and our future!”
The prime minister’s office spokesperson, Zoltan Kovacs, also shared a brief video clip featuring excerpts from Orban’s address.
In the video, Orban states, “Like the empires of old that crippled us, the European Union has now become a war project.”
He cautioned that Brussels aims to defeat Russia within the next decade and warned that this objective would compel every EU member and citizen to “serve” this mission, signaling a deeper militarization of the Union’s goals.
