Trump’s government gets sued by Oregon for troops deployment
(MENAFN) It is expected that in the next 2 months, the National Guard will be deployed to Portland, Oregon, after a command from United States’s Leader Donald Trump.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a memo on Sunday announcing the disposition of at least 200 National Guard members to the city. Their job is to "protect federal property" in areas where rallies are "occurring or likely to occur."
On Saturday, Trump announced he had authorized the use of "full force" if necessary to subdue any rallies aimed at immigration detention centers.
In response, Oregon has sued the Trump government, asserting that the disposition of the National Guard to Portland is "unlawful."
Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield filed a lawsuit on Sunday, labeling the move as "provocative and arbitrary" and asserting that it "threatens to undermine public safety by inciting a public outcry."
As the Trump government continues its comprehensive suppression on illegal immigration, this deployment contributes to an increasing number of soldiers being stationed in US cities.
In a Truth Social post, Trump alleged the action would help protect "any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists", and described the city as "War ravaged".
