The Pharmacology laboratory provides analytical support for xenobiotic analysis in biological matrices for the College of Veterinary Medicine and other research collaborators. We develop and validate assays intended to support both intramural and extramural research, thus encouraging interaction between the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, other universities, zoos and aquariums. The laboratory provides expertise and has available equipment to measure drugs, drug metabolites, toxicants and some endogenous compounds in a wide range of biological matrices. The laboratory has the expertise and commitment to perform validation tests for all assays and perform quality assurance determinations for all studies. The laboratory also performs a teaching function as it serves as a teaching laboratory for graduate students in the college.

Dr. Cox has a strong interest in clinical and collaborative research with a special interest in analytical analysis and drug pharmacokinetics.

Dr. Cox has taught in the pharmacology course and graduate curriculum. Dr. Cox also provides a training ground for graduate, veterinary and undergraduate students guiding them through their research projects.
