Clearwater, FL : On Wednesday, October 15th at 11:00am, the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization is hosting the quarterly Charity Coalition Luncheon in the historic Fort Harrison's Crystal Ballroom. The luncheon brings together nonprofit leaders from across Tampa Bay for networking, training, and recognition of those working to strengthen the community. There is no cost to attend.
The luncheon also features a local anti-drug nonprofit as the spotlight charity, in recognition of Red Ribbon Week - the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention campaign starting in 1985, held annually to encourage communities to educate youth and promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles.
Lynn Posyton, a lifelong volunteer and advocate for nonprofit service, will deliver a presentation on getting and keeping volunteers - a topic many nonprofits identify as one of their greatest challenges according to The Florida Nonprofit Alliance's 2024 survey.
In that same survey, 44% of nonprofits in Florida said they served more clients in 2024 than in 2023, making it harder for them to manage without the extra manpower. Mrs. Posyton's workshop will provide tools and strategies to attract dedicated volunteers and inspire them to stay engaged for the long term.
In addition to the program, guests will enjoy a complimentary gourmet lunch, networking opportunities, and a business card raffle designed to build lasting connections among local nonprofits.
"Nonprofits thrive when they have the right people, skills, and partnerships," said Lisa Mansell, Community Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology in Clearwater. "Through the Charity Coalition, we aim to strengthen organizations so they can better help our community. As humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard once noted, "A community that pulls together can make a better society for all."
