Amman, Sept. 25 (Petra) -- In a move to boost regional logistics and trade, the Jordanian Logistics Association (JLA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Damascus with the Syrian Federation Of International Freight Forwarders (SFIFF).
The agreement, signed by JLA Vice President Nizar Saleh and President of the Syrian Federation Mohammed Saleh Kaishour, lays the groundwork for closer coordination between the two bodies. It aims to align efforts, streamline operations, and avoid redundant processes, while supporting each side's national logistics goals in line with existing legal frameworks.
Under the MoU, both parties will collaborate on a joint action plan focused on improving freight operations, strengthening financial resilience in the shipping sector, supervising freight forwarders and logistics providers, and developing strategies to minimize operational losses. It also addresses legal challenges facing the industry and emphasizes training and skills development, particularly in emerging markets.
The agreement is designed to enhance mutual understanding of each party's operational landscape, set joint priorities, and encourage business transactions through certified members to prevent commercial disputes. It also provides a platform for expert exchange, policy dialogue, and collaboration on innovation and industry best practices.
Additionally, both sides have agreed to offer voluntary dispute resolution and mediation services to member companies in the event of conflicts.
The MoU will be reviewed every six months to ensure progress toward shared objectives and to reinforce the long-term partnership between Jordan and Syria's logistics sectors.
