Trump, Erdogan Await Holding Talks at White House

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump is set to host Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House on Thursday.

The two heads of state will engage in a one-on-one meeting inside the Oval Office, followed by a working luncheon.

Their dialogue is anticipated to cover bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as commerce, investment, and the defense sector, as well as broader regional matters.

This encounter takes place at a critical juncture, as unrest in the Middle East intensifies.

Israel’s ongoing strikes in the Gaza Strip continue despite mounting worldwide appeals for a diplomatic resolution to the Palestinian issue.

"I believe our meeting with President Trump will contribute to ending wars and conflicts in our region within the framework of our shared vision of global peace and will further strengthen the cooperation between our countries," Erdogan had remarked earlier.

Prior to his visit to Washington, Erdogan attended this year’s UN General Assembly in New York and reached the US capital on Wednesday.

While in New York, he joined a reception on Tuesday organized by Trump and first lady Melania Trump in honor of world leaders and their spouses.

Additionally, Erdogan and Trump both took part in a multilateral gathering on Gaza on the sidelines of the UN Assembly that same day.

During his time in Washington, Erdogan is staying at Blair House, the official guest residence of the US president.
