Luna Vives is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the Université de Montréal. Her research focuses on migration and border policy in Europe and North America. She is the author of the book The Gates of the Sea: Migration and Rescue at the Edges of Europe,which explores how the Spanish government is reclaiming search and rescue assets to keep migrants out of its territory (Fernwood, 2025).
