Macron Emphasizes UN Talks’ Role Regarding Two-State Solution
(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday underscored the significance of forthcoming discussions in New York concerning a two-state solution in the Middle East, noting that the gathering would be pivotal in uniting the global community behind peace initiatives.
Macron stated that he had spoken with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in advance of the event, which both leaders are set to co-chair on Monday.
“The adoption by 142 countries of the (July) New York Declaration on the two-state solution marked a turning point in charting a path toward lasting peace and security in the Middle East,” Macron wrote on US social platform X.
He underlined that the summit “must enable us to take a further step in mobilizing the international community.”
The French president once again affirmed his support for the principle of “two peoples, two states, peace and security for all” as the foundation for a durable settlement.
The UN session will center on promoting a two-state solution to the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Recently, UN investigators determined that Israel is perpetrating genocide in Gaza, where the number of deaths has exceeded 65,000.
Roughly three-quarters of UN member nations already acknowledge Palestine, with Ireland, Spain, and Norway officially recognizing it in 2024.
