War Update: 79 Clashes On Frontline, Defense Forces Advance In Three Sectors


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted updated information as of 16:00 on Saturday, September 20, on Facebook .

Russian artillery once again shelled the Ukrainian border, in particular Bila Bereza, Studenok, Cherkaske, Hirky, Prohres, Novovasylivka in the Sumy region, and Karpovychi, Bleshnia, and Bohdanove in the Chernihiv region.

Four enemy attacks took place in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors. The invaders' aviation carried out four strikes, dropping five guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy carried out 115 artillery strikes, one of which was from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, there were five combat engagements in the areas of Vovchansk, Krasne Pershe, and toward Bochkove. Two combat engagements are ongoing.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy failed, attacking the positions of Ukrainian units toward Myrne once. The Defense Forces were successful, advancing up to 200 meters in some areas and inflicting casualties on the enemy.

In the Lyman sector , the invading army carried out seven attacks in the areas of Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Shandryholove, and toward Novoselivka. Four combat clashes are ongoing.

In the Siversk sector, the enemy attacked three times toward Dronivka. As a result of reconnaissance and search operations, the Defense Forces achieved tactical success, advancing up to 200 meters in some areas and destroying enemy manpower.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy carried out an unsuccessful attack near Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk sector, Ukrainian fighters advanced up to 300 meters in some areas and inflicted losses on enemy personnel, repelling eight enemy attempts to wedge into the areas of Ivanopil, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Stepanivka, Rusyn Yar, Poltavka, and Sofiivka. Two combat engagements are ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk sector , Russian invaders made 23 attempts to push back the Defense Forces in the areas of the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, and toward the settlements of Kozatske and Novopavlivka. Ukrainian fighters are holding back the offensive and have already repelled 17 attacks.

In the Novopavlivka sector , Ukrainian defenders carried out successful search and strike operations, advancing three kilometers and destroying a significant number of enemy infantry and capturing invaders. Ukrainian defenders stopped six assaults in the areas of Filiia, Andriivka-Klevtsove, Sichneve, Maliivka, Komyshuvakha, Novoivanivka, and toward Berezove and Novovasylivske, with six more clashes ongoing.

In the Huliaipole sector, the enemy attacked the positions of the Defense Forces in the Olhivske area three times. One combat engagement is ongoing. The aggressor launched an air strike on Bilohiria.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian fighters repelled one attack toward Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovske sector , the enemy launched an air strike on Kozatske and made two unsuccessful attempts to approach the positions of Ukrainian units toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that after the counterattack by the Defense Forces in Dobropillia and the Pokrovsk area, 330 km2 were returned to Ukrainian control, of which more than 170 km2 were completely liberated from the enemy.
