CAIRO, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed the latest developments of the situation in the Middle East, notably the Israeli occupation war on Gaza Strip and the attack on Qatar.
During a phone conversation on Saturday, the two leaders reviewed the preparations for the high level conference on the two state solution, slated for Monday during the 80th UN General Assembly session.
They agreed that the conference constituted a pivotal step towards recognition of the Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, Egypt's presidential Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawy said in a press release.
Both leaders also reviewed the outcomes of the virtual summit, held on September 15 under a call by the French President
Al-Sisi appreciated Macron's initiative for holding the summit which aimed to deescalate the conflict in the Middle East.
He welcomed anew France's declaration of intention to recognize the State of Palestine, noting that this positive step will contribute to peace and stability in the Middle East, the spokesman added. (end)
