Srinagar- Fruit growers in Kashmir heaved a sigh of relief as the administration cleared 4,873 stranded fruit-laden trucks over the past two days, ending the disruption that had hit markets and prices across Kashmir Valley.

Of these, 2,239 trucks moved via the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway and 2,634 through the Mughal Road, under the supervision of IG Traffic M. Suleman Choudhary. The final batch of 500 trucks is set to leave Qazigund tonight, completing the clearance and easing traffic congestion.

“The administration, guided by Chief Secretary Atal Dullo, mobilized all resources to ensure smooth transport of horticultural produce,” an official handout said. Daily reviews with all stakeholder departments were held to address growers' concerns and maintain highway operations.

Valley-bound trucks carrying essentials such as LPG, fuel, vegetables, and lifesaving drugs were also facilitated to meet local demand.

President of the Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers and Dealers Association, Bashir Ahmad Basheer also said the movement of fruit-laden trucks, which had been stranded due to the prolonged closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, has now resumed.
