Police Constable Shot Dead In Darra Adam Khel Abduction Attempt

In Kohat's Darra Adam Khel subdivision, armed assailants attempted to abduct police constable Younas Khan in Tor Chappar area late Wednesday night. According to police, the attackers stormed his house and tried to forcibly take him away. When Younas Khan resisted, the assailants opened fire, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene.

A heavy police contingent reached the area shortly after the incident, and the constable's body was shifted to DHQ Hospital Kohat. His funeral prayer was later offered at Police Lines Kohat, attended by DIG Abbas Majeed Marwat, DPO Dr. Zahidullah, and other senior officials. He was laid to rest with police honors, and floral wreaths were placed on his coffin. Police said a search operation was underway in the area.

Meanwhile, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack, alleging the constable was involved in“spying” and was killed during an exchange of fire when they tried to capture him. Local sources suggested one of the attackers may have been injured by the constable's fire, though the claim could not be independently verified.

The incident comes just two days after an attack on a police team in Majoki area of Charsadda, in which Head Constable Fasihuddin was martyred and ASI Qaiser Khan critically injured. Fasihuddin, a resident of Dargai, was the father of three children.
