Venezuela Warns of Increased US Intelligence Flights
(MENAFN) Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez stated Sunday that the United States has been conducting intelligence flights over the Caribbean and regions near Venezuela.
“Every day in September, and last night, intelligence aircraft and tankers were refueling in the air. Intelligence and reconnaissance operations against Venezuela tripled in August,” Padrino Lopez declared, speaking to a Venezuelan state channel.
He added, "What information they gather is their own business. We are conducting our own internal intelligence processes. We are prepared and can intervene in each flight individually or collectively; we know what they are doing. We know that their deployments in the Caribbean carry the intention of provoking war."
Padrino Lopez stressed that the Venezuelan Armed Forces are ready for any scenario, while voicing concern about potential air accidents resulting from the US failing to share its flight plans.
Regarding nationwide military training programs for militia forces, he mentioned that on the orders of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, training sessions would continue every Saturday, ensuring militias remain prepared against possible US aggression.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the military to be employed more extensively and effectively to tackle Latin American drug cartels on the ground.
