Doha: Renad Academy, part of Qatar Foundation's Pre-University Education, has received accreditation from the National Autistic Society in the United Kingdom, an international accreditation programme granted to institutions that provide educational services or support for individuals with autism.

This accreditation is recognised worldwide as a standard of excellence in the education and support of individuals with autism, assessing institutions against a comprehensive set of standards that cover infrastructure, staff competency, and the quality of educational programs and services offered to this community.

Noof Al-Malki, Acting Executive Director of Renad Academy, part of Qatar Foundation's (QF) Pre-University Education (PUE), said:“Receiving this accreditation is a major achievement that shows the quality of our educational and professional practices.” She added that Renad Academy is the first school in Qatar dedicated to individuals with autism to be accredited under the National Autistic Society's new international standards. The process included a detailed review of all academic and administrative work at the academy.

Al-Malki explained that the accreditation covers curriculum, teaching methods, and social and communication programmes.

It also requires schools to create high-quality individual plans for each student Renad Academy currently serves 134 students, each with a tailored plan, even within the same classroom. The standards also focus on child protection, encouraging positive behaviour, reducing dependence on direct support, and building independence and life skills.

“Alongside education, Renad Academy offers specialized therapies such as speech and occupational therapy,” Al-Malki added.“We also work closely with families to design and follow up on individual plans both at school and at home.

“Accreditation is not just a certificate. It is a commitment to quality, partnership with families, and preparing students with the confidence and skills they need for independent and fulfilling lives.”

Matthew Campion, Director of Warif Academy - a partnership between QF's Pre-University Education and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education - said that his previous work at Renad Academy on the accreditation file helped lay the foundation for this success. Since its opening in 2016, Renad Academy has worked closely with the National Autistic Society, with three years of effort leading to this long-term goal.

“This accreditation is global recognition that places Renad Academy among leading institutions and confirms its commitment to providing high-quality educational services for individuals with autism.”

Campion also noted that QF's PUE has international ambitions, aiming to make Renad Academy a global model in autism education.

“At Renad, we believe every child has unique needs. We focus on their strengths rather than their challenges, and we work to give every student a voice, a clear path, and the support they need to thrive.

“Our success comes from a holistic approach that puts the child at the center. Speech and language therapy, and a strong focus on social and emotional learning, are essential in helping students understand their feelings, manage them, and handle daily challenges with confidence.”
