Panjsher Families Reconcile After Years-Long Feuds
PARAKH (Pajhwok): Two longstanding family feuds in central Panjsher province-one lasting 15 years and the other seven-have been peacefully resolved through the efforts of local authorities and tribal elders.
Mohammad Raha Abrar, head of the Panjshir Conflict Resolution Commission, said the disputes involved four families from the village of Sefid Chehar in the Hesa-i-Awal district. Two individuals had been killed as a result of these feuds, which remained unresolved for years.
According to Abrar, the first conflict began 15 years ago when the son of Haji Sarajuddin was killed by the son of Islamuddin following a verbal altercation.
As part of the reconciliation process, the victim's family has now received two houses in Kabul and a piece of land in the Hesa-i-Awal district.
In the second case, which occurred seven years ago, the son of Haji Abdul Khaliq killed the son of Abdul Malik after a verbal dispute. This conflict has also been resolved, with the victim's family receiving 1.2 million afghanis in cash and a piece of land as compensation.
Governor Alhaj Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim, speaking at the reconciliation ceremony, noted that dozens of similar cases involving killings and feuds had been peacefully settled in the province over the past two years.
“These achievements are the result of the blessings of the Islamic system,” he said,“and we consider them a source of pride for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.”
Sheikh Zia- Haq Hanafi, head of the Panjshir Ulema Council, stressed that eliminating discord and promoting unity among the country's ethnic groups are key goals of the Islamic Emirate.
Maulvi Abdullah Sadid, head of the Panjshir Court of Appeals, added that reconciliation among families contributed to improved security and strengthened social cohesion.
The families involved expressed satisfaction with the resolution and pledged to put aside all hostility and live together peacefully as brothers.
