KP Food Authority Cracks Down On Substandard And Fake Food Units In Mardan, Swat, And Peshawar
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority carried out operations in Mardan, Swat, and Peshawar, sealing several units involved in producing substandard and counterfeit food products. Multiple arrests were made, and cases have been registered against the culprits.
According to the Food Authority spokesperson, a raid in Katlang, Mardan, uncovered 1,000 kilograms of adulterated jaggery, 500 kilograms of substandard jaggery, and 100 kilograms of sugar from a mill where jaggery was being produced in extremely unhygienic conditions before being supplied to the market. A bakery unit was also sealed in the area due to poor hygiene standards.
In Swat's Mingora area, a factory producing counterfeit products of a multinational brand was busted following a tip-off. The unit was found storing 600 kilograms of fake spices, 210 kilograms of glucose, 800 kilograms of packing reels, 100 kilograms of kheer, 40 cartons of packaging material, and two packing machines. The factory owner was arrested, and an FIR was registered against him.

Meanwhile, in Peshawar's Town-IV, the Food Safety team raided a warehouse and recovered 153 kilograms of expired ghee, initiating legal proceedings against the owners.
Provincial Minister for Food, Zahoor Shah Toru, said that strict action will continue against those supplying harmful and counterfeit food to the public. He directed officials to intensify operations to ensure the availability of safe and quality food to citizens.
