Over 100,000 Maryland Residents To Lose Medicare Advantage Plans At End Of 2025

More than 100,000 Maryland residents are expected to lose their current Medicare Advantage Plans when they expire at the end of 2025. This change will leave thousands of seniors searching for new coverage options to ensure their healthcare needs are met going into 2026. East Coast Health Advisors, a trusted independent Medicare insurance brokerage based in Annapolis, is stepping in to help affected residents review alternatives and secure new plans at no cost to them
Beneficiaries impacted by these changes have until December 31, 2025 , to select and enroll in new coverage for the upcoming year. While losing a current plan may feel overwhelming, East Coast Health Advisors emphasizes that seniors will not be left without options. A variety of replacement Medicare Advantage and Supplement plans are available, and each client can find a tailored solution that continues to provide comprehensive benefits and peace of mind.
"Our goal is to help as many people find a new plan with the same, or similar benefits to the ones they're losing" said Peter Palmiotto, the Founder and CEO of East Coast Health Advisors, an Annapolis, MD based Medicare Insurance Agency.
"Many seniors won't know where to go, who to speak to, or what options are available to them," Palmiotto added. "That's our job, to try to replace what they've lost from several other companies. We'll handle the paperwork and ensure they're enrolled in time for the new year."
It came as a shock to many that their Advantage Plans would be discontinued, but not all the plans are exiting Maryland. Local companies like CareFirst, Johns Hopkins and Alterwood Health are still offering plans, as well as national carriers Kaiser Permanente, Cigna, Humana and Aetna (although Aetna is only offered in three Maryland counties in 2026).
Additionally, while the core Advantage plans may be terminating, many of the Dual Special Needs plans, or those that assist Medicare and Medicaid recipients, have mainly remained untouched. Palmiotto advises to seek help from a local broker that can help guide you towards the plan of your choice.
East Coast Health Advisors can be reached at (410)896-1212 and have been serving Maryland seniors with personalized Medicare guidance for years. Their services are completely free, ensuring that residents have access to unbiased support in navigating this transition. Seniors who wish to explore their coverage options are encouraged to visit or call the office to schedule a consultation and secure the right plan for 2026.
