Egypt FM: Israeli Occupation Should Accept Proposed Deal To De-Escalate Situation In Gaza

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Sept 6 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Dr. Bader Abdelati stressed the importance of the Israeli occupation's acceptance of the proposed deal to de-escalate the situation, stop the bloodshed in the Palestinian people, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip.
This came during a phone call between Minister Abdelati and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff last night, during which they discussed joint efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, based on the elements proposed by the US envoy, said the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, Abdelati touched on the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation, which has reached the point of famine, warning of the danger and repercussions of expanding military operations in Gaza and the continued use of starvation as a weapon.
He also briefed the US envoy on Egypt's preparations to host an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction immediately after the ceasefire is announced, in accordance with the Arab-Islamic plan adopted at the Arab Summit in Cairo last March, the statement added. (end)
