Pres. Trump Renames Department Of Defense To Department Of War


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Sept 5 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump signed on Friday an executive order that wound rename the Department of Defense to "Department of War", noting that it will send a strong message to the world.
During his signing of several executive orders, President Trump stated that "I believe the name is more appropriate especially under the current status of the world," to say that "we have the strongest army in the world ... we have the greatest equipment in the world ... we have the greatest equipment manufacturers without contest ... nobody can compete with us."
Adding, the renaming of the War Department sends a "message of victory and strength" to the world while also pointing out this his administration will be using this name regardless of the Congress's approval or not.
On the Congress's approval, he said "we will find out later" and that "I'm not sure it's necessary."
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told reporters that the name change aims to "restore the warrior spirit" in the US military, which "must attack, not just defend." (end)
