Brazilian Chicken Exports Rise 3.9%

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Brazilian chicken meat exports rose 3.9% in August compared to the same month last year in terms of volume, according to data released Friday (5) by Brazil's chicken and pork lobby ABPA. Including both fresh and processed products, Brazil exported 394,600 metric tons in August. Export revenue totaled USD 699.4 million, down 11.9% from the same month in 2024.

For the first time, Mexico topped the ranking of main destinations of Brazilian chicken meat at 37,500 tons-an increase of 873.3% compared to August last year. Following Mexico was the United Arab Emirates at 32,500 tons, down 16.9%, Japan at 30,300 tons, down 22.2%, and Saudi Arabia at 27,000 tons, showing a slight increase of 0.6%.

“The performance in August maintained the stability of exports observed since Brazil regained its Avian Influenza-free status, which is expected to improve positively with the recent resumption of imports by Chile and the official reopening of the European Union,” said ABPA president Ricardo Santin. Brazil reported an outbreak of avian influenza at a commercial farm in May but has since been recognized as free of the disease by the World Organization for Animal Health and the EU.

From January to August this year, Brazilian chicken meat exports totaled 3.394 million tons, down 1.1% compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the first eight months reached USD 6.308 billion, a decrease of 0.2%.
