New Venues Elevate the Festival Experience

For 2025, SDIFF introduces exciting new locations:

  • Opening Night Film Premiere & Party at THE LOT La Jolla

  • Party With a Purpose fundraiser at the iconic Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach

  • Screenings and red-carpet events returning to The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center and AMC14 at Westfield UTC

Each year, SDIFF receives over 3,200 submissions from 85 countries , reinforcing its reputation as an internationally recognized film festival .

  • VARIETY as Official Media Partner for the Night of the Stars Tribute

  • Presentation of the Gregory Peck Award of Excellence in Cinema, previously honoring Annette Bening, Laurence Fishburne, Andy Garcia, and Alan Arkin

Celebrating Global Culture Through Film

The new collaboration with the House of Pacific Relations (HPR)-founded in 1935 and celebrating its 90th anniversary-aligns with SDIFF's Foreign Film track. HPR represents 35 cultures through its houses in Balboa Park, making this partnership a perfect fit for the festival's mission of multicultural understanding through film.

Red Carpet Glamour: Night of the Stars Tribute

Held at The Conrad in La Jolla, the Night of the Stars Tribute will honor actors and filmmakers with awards such as the Gregory Peck Award, Cinema Vanguard Award, and Rising Star Award.

Past honorees include Sir Patrick Stewart, Kate Beckinsale, Geena Davis, Judd Apatow, Adrien Brody, and Regina Hall, underscoring the festival's ability to attract Hollywood's top talent.

Film With Impact: Education & Community

Beyond screenings, SDIFF champions education through its FOCUS on Impact Program. Proceeds from Party With a Purpose support curriculum and conversations on social impact films delivered to San Diego high school students.

A standout is Culinary Cinema on October 19, hosted by Shawn Styles of CBS8's“Cooking with Styles.” This unique event pairs food-themed films with tastings inspired by leading San Diego chefs.

“Over the years, films screened at SDIFF have earned 36 Academy Awards and 167 nominations,” noted Mantooth.“We can't wait to share this year's slate with our community in September.”
