Made-In-India Chip Designs Showcased By Startups Under DLI Scheme At Semicon India 2025
So far, 23 projects have been sanctioned under the scheme, with 72 companies gaining access to industry-grade Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools.
Their roadmaps, showcased at the event, reflect India's growing self-reliance in semiconductor design.
InCore Semiconductors introduced a System-on-Chip (SoC) Generator Platform that reduces frontend chip design time from months to minutes.
Built by the creators of India's first open-source RISC-V processors (SHAKTI), the platform accelerates design cycles, cuts costs, and reduces risks. A test chip demonstrated its robustness with six heterogeneous RISC-V cores, a custom Network-on-Chip, and integrated peripherals.
InCore also unveiled three processor families-Azurite, Calcite, and Dolomite-targeting applications from motor control and IoT to networking and edge AI.
Aheesa Digital Innovations announced plans to release its Vihaan SoC in early 2026.
Based on C-DAC's VEGA RISC-V processor, the chip includes advanced security features and standard interfaces, offering OEMs and ODMs a fully indigenous option for broadband and networking applications.
Four firms-3rdiTech, Netrasemi, BigEndian Semiconductors, and Mindgrove Technologies-are developing indigenous SoCs for surveillance and CCTV systems.
Having completed test chip tape-outs in 2025, they have collectively raised over Rs 300 crore, reaching a combined valuation above Rs 1,000 crore. Production-grade chips are scheduled for release in 2026.
MosChip Technologies is developing Vidyut, an indigenous smart energy meter chip, with validated IP blocks and packaging support from SCL Mohali. The company aims for full indigenisation, including fabrication, by 2026.
Vervesemi, meanwhile, is preparing chips for motor control applications in EVs, drones, and industrial systems. The company also plans to deliver space-grade ASICs for ISRO by 2026, replacing several imported components.
MBit Wireless has developed a 4G-LTE modem chipset with a complete protocol stack, certified by the Global Certification Forum and LG Labs. The chipset is undergoing field trials with Indian telecom operators.
The initiatives highlighted at Semicon India 2025 mark a shift from India's traditional role in backend chip services to developing indigenous design and IP.
