(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- Arab Foreign Ministers held a closed-door consultative meeting on Thursday ahead of the 164th regular session of the Arab League Council, focusing on key agenda items, foremost among them developments in the Palestinian cause.
The Kuwaiti delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya and included Director of the Minister's Office Ambassador Bader Al-Tunaib, Director of Arab World Affairs Ambassador Ahmad Al-Bakr and Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi.
According to an Arab League statement, the meeting -- attended by Secretary General Ahmad-Abul Gheit -- discussed ways to support the Palestinian people amid continued Israeli aggression in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
Ministers also reviewed recommendations submitted by permanent delegates earlier this week concerning recent developments in Palestine.
Separately, the Arab Summit Follow-up Committee held a meeting at the ministerial level, chaired by Iraq, to assess progress in implementing resolutions of the 34th Arab Summit hosted by Baghdad last year.
The committee, comprising Iraq (chair), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen, Jordan, the UAE, and the Arab League Secretariat, discussed challenges facing implementation and means to strengthen joint Arab action.
The 164th session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level is scheduled to begin later today. (end)
