Dr. Larsen is a Professor Emerita at Western University's Faculty of Education. She completed her PhD on“A Comparative Study of the Socio-historical Construction of the Teacher in Mid-Victorian England and Upper Canada” at the University College of London. She is a leading researcher in the field of comparative and international education with a long-standing interest in the histories, theories, and methodologies within the field. In particular, she has been concerned with re-theorizing concepts of space and time in comparative education research, and her scholarly research on these topics has been widely cited. Much of her research has also focused on internationalization, including her book, Internationalization of Higher Education: An Analysis through Spatial, Networks, and Mobilities Theories. More recently, she has returned to history in her research, with her work on a transnational history of 19th century teaching and teachers. Currently, Dr. Larsen serves as an elected public school board trustee for the 4th largest school board in the province of Ontario.
