Amman, Sept 3 (Petra) – The 13th edition of the Amman Jazz Festival opened Wednesday evening at the Sweifieh Village, west of Amman, featuring a diverse lineup of local and international artists.
Jordanian singer Hind Hamed opened the festival with a performance accompanied by her four-piece band, blending Western instruments with the qanun and presenting songs rich with emotional, humanitarian and patriotic themes, particularly reflecting on the situation in Gaza.
The first night also featured Swedish-Syrian performer Christina Issa, who delivered jazz-inspired songs, followed by the Italian quintet Pietrosante Angelucci with a selection of Western vocal pieces infused with jazz stylings. The evening concluded with Swiss-Moroccan artist Sami Galbi, who presented his unique fusion of Western and Eastern musical forms.
The four-day festival brings together musicians from Jordan, Palestine, Southwest Asia, North Africa and Europe. Organizers said this year's edition comes with a renewed vision amid the violence, wars, injustice and repression weighing heavily on the region, underscoring the essential role of art and music in resilience and solidarity with the people of Palestine and oppressed communities worldwide.
Amman Jazz carries a message of empowering Jordan's music scene, strengthening the creative economy, fostering collaboration between artists, and deepening solidarity by building ties with global artistic communities that support the Palestinian cause.
The 2025 festival program combines concerts, discussions and professional exchanges, in partnership with its sister platforms: "Amman Musical Dialogues" and the "Music Exchange Lab."
