Qatar Participates In 164Th Session Of Arab League Council

Cairo: Qatar participated in the 164th ordinary session of the Council of the Arab League at the level of permanent representatives, which kicked off on Monday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo and will continue for two days.

Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative of the State to the Arab League H E Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari led the State of Qatar's delegation at the session.

In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari said that the meetings of the Permanent Representatives to the Arab League come in the context of preparations for the 164th session of the Council of the Arab League at the level of Foreign Ministers, scheduled for Thursday. In this regard, he pointed out that several procedural and substantive issues are being discussed on the agenda items, especially the Arab-Israeli conflict, stability in the Middle East, as well as developments related to international peace and security in the Arab region.

Al Ansari pointed out that the agenda for this session includes numerous draft resolutions, including those related to supporting the central Arab cause, the Palestinian issue, as well as achieving security and stability and providing support to Arab countries experiencing special circumstances, in light of the challenges they currently face.

Al Ansari said these decisions come within the framework of the role played by the Arab League as a regional organization that complements the work of the United Nations with regard to establishing international peace and security.
