Srinagar- Amid heavy rains and an adverse weather advisory, the Jammu and Kashmir government has placed all departments on high alert and directed them to take precautionary measures to safeguard lives and property.

A senior government official said that control rooms have been activated and both divisional administrations are in constant touch with key departments.“People are advised to remain vigilant and follow advisories issued by the administration,” the official said.

Rescue teams, disaster management units, and essential departments have been asked to remain deployed in vulnerable areas to ensure immediate response in case of emergencies.

Over the past few weeks, incessant rains have battered several districts of Jammu and Kashmir, triggering flood-like situations in low-lying areas, especially in the Jammu division. Several deaths, damage to property, and disruptions in road connectivity have been reported, while loss assessments are still underway.

Authorities have reassured the public that all possible measures are being taken to minimize damage and ensure safety, with both the LG administration and the elected government jointly monitoring the situation.
