China Reaffirms Support for Ukraine Peace
(MENAFN) China reaffirmed its commitment on Tuesday to resolving the Ukraine crisis through political means, signaling its readiness to contribute constructively to peace efforts between Kyiv and Moscow.
Beijing is prepared to, "in accordance with the wishes of the parties concerned, work alongside the international community to maintain a constructive role in pursuing a political resolution to the crisis," Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular news briefing in Beijing, according to media.
Guo emphasized, “From the very first day of the crisis, China has upheld an objective and impartial stance, committing to promoting peace and facilitating talks.”
This declaration follows a recent call from Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, which highlighted China’s “significant geopolitical role” and welcomed its “more active role in bringing peace to Ukraine.”
China has consistently advocated for dialogue over military action to resolve the prolonged conflict that escalated when Moscow launched its “special military operation” in Ukraine in February 2022.
In addition, Beijing published a 12-point proposal in 2023 outlining a framework aimed at achieving a political settlement in the conflict.
