Amman's Industrial Exports Surge 13.6% In First Eight Months Of 2025
Amman, Sept. 2 (Petra) -- The exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry increased by 13.6% during the first eight months of this year, marking a clear upward trend that began at the start of 2025.
According to statistical data obtained by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the Chamber's exports, based on certificates of origin issued during the first eight months of the current year, reached JD 4.823 billion, compared to JD 4.246 billion during the same period last year.
The growth reflects a steady upward trajectory that began at the start of the year, with eight industrial sub-sectors posting gains. Notable performers included the construction materials sector, which led the way with a 58.6% rise, and the medical and pharmaceutical supplies sector, which grew by 4.2%.
However, not all sectors fared equally. The wood and furniture industry saw a 9% drop in exports, while the paper, packaging, and office supplies sector experienced a sharper decline of 28%.
Four countries, namely India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, together accounted for more than half of the Chamber's total export volume, with a combined value of JD 2.747 billion.
India stood out as the fastest-growing market, with exports rising 35% to JD 765 million. Saudi Arabia followed with a 6.6% increase to JD 555 million, while exports to Iraq remained virtually unchanged at JD 609 million. Exports to the U.S., on the other hand, fell 8.5% to JD 818 million, although it remained one of the top destination markets.
One of the most significant developments came from Syria, where Amman's exports soared by an impressive 412%, reaching JD 227 million, up from just JD 44 million a year earlier.

Regionally, Arab countries remained the largest export destination, receiving JD 2.291 billion worth of goods. This was followed by non-Arab Asian nations (JD 1.047 billion) and North America (JD 850 million). Exports to the EU totaled JD 295 million, while JD 171 million went to other European countries. Africa received JD 96 million, South America JD 38 million, and other global markets JD 35 million.
By sector, the mining industry led the way with JD 1.153 billion in exports, followed by chemicals and cosmetics (JD 853 million), engineering and technology (JD 752 million), and food and agriculture (JD 637 million). The pharmaceutical and medical sector reached JD 467 million, while leather and garments contributed JD 428 million.
Smaller contributions came from plastics and rubber (JD 210 million), packaging and paper (JD 176 million), construction materials (JD 134 million), and wood and furniture (JD 13 million).
Established in 1962, the Amman Chamber of Industry now represents over 8,600 manufacturing enterprises employing 159,000 workers, with a combined capital investment nearing JD 5 billion.
