Aqaba, Sept. 1 (Petra) – The countdown has begun for the 34th edition of the Jordan Open Golf Championship, set to tee off at Ayla Golf Club in Aqaba from September 2nd to 4th.
The tournament is one of the region's premier sporting events and a key fixture on the Kingdom's sports tourism calendar, with more than 100 professional and amateur players from 19 countries competing a record turnout that underscores the championship's growing regional and international stature.
Organized by Ayla Oasis Development Company in partnership with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), the tournament aims to position Aqaba as a leading destination for sports tourism. The event is expected to stimulate flight activity, boost hotel occupancy, increase demand at restaurants and markets, and generate positive ripple effects across the local economy.
Ayla's Director of Public Relations Mansour Kabariti said hosting the Jordan Open Golf Championship is a priority, describing it as a product of the company's strategic partnership with the ASEZA. He noted that the event is part of efforts to market Aqaba globally as a hub that combines sports, tourism, and investment.
Tournament Director Alaa Barakat said that the Jordan Golf Federation and Ayla have completed preparations to international standards, with the course now in top condition. He said delegations from around the world are arriving ahead of the official start, receiving a warm welcome that reflects Jordanian hospitality.
