Türkiye’s Fierce Forest Fire Reaches Residential Neighborhoods

(MENAFN) A severe forest fire in Denizli province, western Türkiye, has reached residential neighborhoods, burning houses and leading to widespread evacuations, authorities confirmed Monday.

Governor Omer Faruk Coskun reported that all available resources have been deployed and firefighting efforts are ongoing to bring the blaze under control.

The fire’s spread into populated areas has prompted the evacuation of 84 households to safer locations, as officials prioritize public safety.

Patients at Buldan Chest Diseases Hospital and its nearby annex in the Buldan district were also evacuated as a precaution due to the advancing fire. Ambulances transferred those under treatment to hospitals in Denizli’s city center, and a temporary medical tent was set up near the hospital to provide urgent care.

A video shared by local news platform Denizli Trafik Yasam showed flames driven by strong winds reaching residential zones, with residents fleeing in panic and trying to rescue their livestock from the fire.

The forest fire started on August 27 in the Buldan district of Denizli and spread across the provincial border into neighboring Aydin. After four days of burning along the Denizli-Aydin border, the fire was largely contained but reignited late Sunday night.
