Royal Air Maroc Sponsors São Paulo Biennial

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Moroccan airline Royal Air Maroc is the official carrier of artists and artworks for the 36th São Paulo Biennial . The art exhibition will take place at the Bienal Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park from September 6 to January 11 and will feature several leading figures of Moroccan art among its exhibitors.

Among the Moroccans at the São Paulo Biennial are Amina Agueznay, Chaibia Talal (1929–2004), Farid Belkhaia (1934–2014), Laila Hida, Leila Alaoui (1982–2016), Malika Agueznay, Mohamed Melehi (1936–2020), and Meriem Bennani, as well as co-curator Alya Sebti. Several other artists come from African countries. Bringing them to the event, the company said, is a“concrete opportunity to put South-South cooperation into practice.”

In the statement, Royal Air Maroc's Regional Director for South America, Othman Baba, says that being the event's official carrier demonstrates to Brazil that the company wants to create connections with the country and the rest of the world. He emphasizes that“art has the power to build bridges between territories and people” and that the company serves as a channel to facilitate these encounters.

“I emphasize that Brazil is strategic for our company, and this partnership represents an important step in our South-South integration journey, acting as a transnational airline,” he says. The company states that sponsoring the Biennial is part of its institutional efforts, as it already supports film, music, and contemporary art festivals.

Royal Air Maroc resumed its flights to Brazil in December last year, after suspending the Casablanca–São Paulo route due to the pandemic. The airline operates three weekly flights between the two cities and will add a fourth flight starting in December. It has already stated its intention to further increase frequencies to São Paulo and expand its presence in Brazil. In recent months, Royal Air Maroc has also sponsored exchanges between Brazilian and European travel agents as a way to showcase destinations they sell to their clients.
