38,131 Students To Join Bachelor's Programs At Jordan's Public Universities-HEC
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, August 27 (Petra) -Higher Education Council (HEC) announced a total of 38,131 students are set to join Jordan's nine public universities for the 2025-2026 academic year, which also covers World Islamic Sciences and Education University.
The overall figure includes students benefiting from the Royal benefaction for Jordanian Badia schools and impoverished regions.
In its recent session chaired by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzeh, the HEC's decision covers the regular (competitive) program for the Bachelor's degree in these official universities.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said the HEC's step weighed its recent decisions, which stipulated a 60% reduction in the number of students admitted to "stagnant and saturated" specializations.
The council also continued to implement the gradual timetable for lowering figures of undergraduate students admitted to medicine and dentistry specializations, announced two years ago.
Additionally, the Council approved admission of 7,990 students for the intermediate diploma level.
The statement noted 1,286 students will directly admitted at German Jordanian University's Aeronautical Engineering, Faculty of Arts at University of Jordan, and the Faculty of Arts at Yarmouk University.
Overall admission policy allows public universities to accept Jordanian students in the parallel program, as the percentage does not exceed 30% of the total students admitted into the regular tracks.
