Türkiye’s Stock Exchange Opens Wednesday with Gains


(MENAFN) Türkiye’s leading stock index, the BIST 100, opened Wednesday at 11,561.73 points, marking a modest increase of 0.28%, or 31.92 points, as investor confidence remained steady. This follows Tuesday’s performance when the benchmark closed at an unprecedented high of 11,529.81 points, climbing 0.45% and setting a record closing level.

Trading activity on Tuesday was notably robust, with daily transaction volume reaching 182 billion Turkish liras, equivalent to approximately $4.4 billion, underscoring strong market liquidity and investor engagement.

By 10:20 a.m. local time (0720 GMT) on Wednesday, exchange rates showed the Turkish lira trading at 41.0395 against the U.S. dollar, 47.6920 versus the euro, and 55.2660 compared to the British pound, reflecting relative currency stability amid global market fluctuations.

Meanwhile, commodity prices indicated a mixed outlook: gold prices were recorded at $3,375.30 per ounce, maintaining appeal as a safe-haven asset, while Brent crude oil was priced at $66.45 per barrel, signaling moderate pressure in energy markets.
