3 Children Hurt In Badghis Shell Blast
FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Three children have been injured in western Badghis province after an old unexploded shell went off, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Sediq Sediqi said the incident took place on Tuesday in the Qoroto area of Bala Murghab district.
“The children were herding sheep in the desert when they came across a shell left over from past conflicts. They threw it into a fire, triggering the explosion and injuring all three,” he explained.
The wounded children were evacuated to the district health centre for treatment.
Unexploded ordnance from previous wars remains a serious threat to civilians, particularly farmers and herders, and continues to cause casualties.
