Pakistan, Bangladesh Sign 6 Mous To Enhance Bilateral Relations


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Pakistan and Bangladesh on Sunday signed six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) across different sectors to enhance bilateral relations during the two-day landmark visit of Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Dhaka.
Tthe signing ceremony was held in Dhaka on Sunday, overseen by the Deputy Prime Minister and Bangladesh's Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain, according to the Pakistan Foreign Office.
The signings include, agreement on visa abolition for diplomatic and official passport holders, MoU on joint working group on trade, MoU between foreign service academies, MoU between Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, MoU between Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad and Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies, and Cultural Exchange Programme, it said.
These agreements will institutionalize and further strengthen the bilateral cooperation in trade and economies, training of diplomats, academic exchanges, media cooperation and cultural exchanges," added the Foreign Office.
Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister held a meeting with Bangladesh Adviser for Commerce Sheikh Bashir Uddin.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to promote economic and commercial cooperation, with a special focus on enhancing trade and promoting connectivity.
Pakistan's Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, high-ranking officials and heads of government trade institutions from Bangladesh also attended the meeting.
This is the first state visit by a foreign minister to Bangladesh in the last 13 years as the countries have a history of splitting the lands in 1971 and rocky relations. (end)
